Meta’s AI assistant on WhatsApp is turning heads in the tech world, and for good reason. While many view it as just another chatbot, this
AI is proving to be far more capable and influential than most realize. Integrated directly into one of the world’s most popular messaging apps, Meta’s AI has the potential to reshape how billions of people access information and get things done in their daily lives.
From answering complex queries to helping with tasks like trip planning or language translation, the AI’s capabilities go well beyond simple conversations. But what’s truly groundbreaking is how it leverages WhatsApp’s massive user base and existing features. This combination of advanced AI and ubiquitous messaging could have far-reaching implications for everything from education and productivity to digital literacy in developing nations.
In this post, we’ll explore some of the lesser-known abilities of Meta’s WhatsApp AI and examine why its impact may be more profound than many anticipate…
my personal experience:
before the introduction of chatbot in to WhatsApp, people just used it as an ordinary messaging app. Personally, the integration of chatbot in WhatsApp has helped me a lot.
from simple queries to more complex ones as I mentioned in my introduction earlier.
some of which include:
first is
language translation
this is one of the areas where the meta AI on WhatsApp has proven to be useful to me.
as we know, the WhatsApp application is the biggest and the most popular messaging app.
from joining WhatsApp groups to other means of using the app, you get to meet new people almost all the time.
but sometimes, these new friendship will go no where because of language barriers.
for example, as tech content creator, international collaboration is key.
but it is so sad that, I meet other content creators who we are both ready and willing to share ideas and information but language becomes a problem.
so how does this helped me
before, i needed to install google translate in order to get basic translations done.
now with the integration of chatbot on WhatsApp, all of those challenges mentioned above are solved.
when i meet any new person who i do not speek one language with, i no longer have to copy the text from the person and open another app, paste it in there before I get what the person means. Right within the app,
- I will copy the text
- tap on message your assistance
- prompt it to translate this text to for example English
and that is all.
sometimes if I want to cut short the stress, I can just say,
“I am chatting with a friend who does not speak English. So I will give you all his texts and translate them for me”
you see? meta AI is going to do the translation for me without living the app.
another usefulness of the WhatsApp meta AI chatbot is tasks that often requires google search
although the chatbot is not perfect at this point, but it is still useful for some simple tasks.
a notable example is when i want to know my country’s currency conversion rate.
I can just prompt it by typing “convert 1 USD to GHS” And I will get the answer right away without living the app.
this is because, the chatbot has live access to the internet, Therefore, is able to give you a direct answer from various sources.
complex and difficult tasks
Now with the “simpler” tasks out of the way, I have realised one big win of this chatbot.
for example, I can prompt it “what is the speed of my website: ace-tech-db.com on both mobile and desktop” and in fact, it does the job very well and accurately. Any time I give such prompt, the result is no different from that of google page speed incite.
because of this, I personally believe that, the chatbot is very useful and productive.
ease of use
apart from prompting the bot by typing text, WhatsApp has added another layer of convenience by just recording your queries with your voice.
the bot will listen, transcribe and give you the answer as expected.
my wish
despite all these numerous benefits I have mentioned, there are essential benefits that I wish WhatsApp should include in this chatbot.
the first is
vision:
It will be so nice that WhatsApp includes vision feature to this bot. Users should be able to upload files like images for the bot to look at and tell whatever is in the image.
read allowed feature
this is a very important feature that has to be added as soon as possible.
after the bot has generated the answer for the user, there should be the option to read to the user allowed.
